These lesions are typically aggressive and are more likely malignant. Permeative and moth-eaten lesions morphologies fit this description. Matrix WebThe osteolysis may resemble numerous holes of varying size (moth eaten; Fig. 2) or may be associated with fine “fuzzy-appearing” areas of bone destruction (permeated; Fig. 3 ). Aggressive tumors often extend through the cortex directly into the adjacent soft tissues. Less-aggressive malignancies and benign lesions may expand the cortex ( Fig. 4 ).
